 Karen Butti

I embroider, enjoying both hand and machine techniques and combining drawn, lettered and stitched images.

I usually begin with an idea or a narrative.

My work brings me into contact with the designs and buildings created by people in the past and my embroidery is often an imagined dialogue in stitch with them.

My recent work is based on my conservation work at the houses of William Morris and Emery Walker in Hammersmith.

My work has been published in “Embroidery” Magazine and “Extraordinary Sketchbooks” by Jane Stobart.
