Julie Martin

From a young age I have always felt the need to 'make and create' which included sewing and painting.

30 years ago I completed City and Guilds Courses Parts 1 and 2. This opened up a whole new world of exciting possibilities enabling me to create my own work and be adventurous with a wide range of techniques and mixed media.

Recently I have taken this passion for Textile Art further and gained a BA in Creative Textiles.

Within my work I gain inspiration from the natural and urban landscape often encompassing historical themes. I visit Museums and work on location to capture in my sketchbook a sense of place and history.

In my recent work I have enjoyed experimenting with papers, paint and Gesso combining it with free-motion machine embroidery.
